Established in 1970
In 1970 Alf and Margaret Grosvenor started Alvenor (Al from Alf, Venor from Grosvenor) from their interest in fish breeding, which in turn came about after winning a goldfish at a fair many years before.
Now some 35 years later their son Richard and daughter Sarah are helping to keep Alvenor Aquatics the best aquatic centre in the area.
There have been many changes over the years, but the same basic ingredients which started the company and helped it to grow, are still very much in evidence.
Although the whole family specialise in the fish keeping hobby, Richard is the best person to talk to regarding filtration or pump queries, and Sarah is responsible for all fish ordering and management.
The amount of stock carried is huge and comprehensive, whether it's a complete multi-chambered filter system for a 10,000 gallon Koi pond or a seal ring for a 15 year old pump, it's in stock. There is also thousands of tropical and coldwater fish displayed in some of the cleanest, modern aquariums in the country.
Plus they offer local delivery on all large items.
